Step into the world of Alexander Wu, a venture capital visionary and avid art collector, who resides in one of Singapore’s most exclusive addresses. His 21,108-square-foot Modern Rich Luxury Residence transforms daily dining into a curatorial experience, balancing sculptural furniture with refined artistic accents. Showcasing iconic pieces from Edra, Riva1920, and &Tradition, this dining room exemplifies how function and artistry can coalesce in the world of luxury living.

In this residence, the dining space is not just a room but a cultural dialogue—an architectural and artistic statement framed by handcrafted timber, artisan glass, and bespoke lighting. Each element has been meticulously chosen to evoke the sophistication of a private gallery while remaining deeply livable and inviting for family gatherings and intimate soirées.

Before and After

In this residence, the dining space is not just a room but a cultural dialogue—an architectural and artistic statement framed by handcrafted timber, artisan glass, and bespoke lighting. Each element has been meticulously chosen to evoke the sophistication of a private gallery while remaining deeply livable and inviting for family gatherings and intimate soirées.

Design Story

The design narrative unfolds under the concept of “Modern Rich Dining with Artistic Accents.” The space demonstrates a seamless integration of sculptural form and functional refinement.

At the heart is a handcrafted glass-top dining table, grounded by timber block bases from Riva1920, creating a dialogue between transparency and solidity. The custom modular seating echoes Edra’s artistic modularity, while arched shelving heightens the gallery-like ambiance. Pendant lighting, reminiscent of contemporary art installations, introduces both vertical drama and gentle warmth, shifting the room’s character from daylit vibrancy to evening elegance.

Homeowner Q&A

Favorite Element

“The dining table itself—anchored in timber yet floating in glass—feels like a sculpture I can live with. It invites both conversation and contemplation.”

Biggest Challenge & Solution

The challenge lay in balancing scale with intimacy. In such a vast residence, the risk of coldness loomed. The design team solved this by layering soft textures, modular seating, and curated lighting to create intimacy without diminishing grandeur.

Budget

The project allocated USD 145,000 to the dining space, ensuring every element—from bespoke furniture to custom lighting—was sourced from the highest tier of global design brands.

Lifestyle Impact

This dining room redefines luxury living in Singapore. Hosting private art dinners, wine tastings, and family celebrations becomes an immersive event within this curated environment. The Edra-inspired modular seating encourages fluid gatherings, while the Riva1920 timber craftsmanship ensures enduring value and heritage quality. Pendant lighting from Lightmakers serves as both a sculptural statement and a wellness tool, casting hues that transform moods.

For a collector like Alexander Wu, the dining space is not only a setting for meals but also a stage for lifestyle expression—a place where Louis Vuitton ceramics, Versace Home accessories, or Roche Bobois glassware can seamlessly enter dialogue with architecture and art.

Best Designers Furnitures Recommendation

  • Modular Sofa (Lounge): Edra On the Rocks – a sculptural and reconfigurable sectional system designed by Francesco Binfaré. Made of four geometrically distinct seating elements and two movable backrests, it offers playful versatility and unparalleled plush comfort, thanks to patented Gellyfoam®.
  • Floor Lamp (Lighting): Flos Arco Floor Lamp – an enduring design icon since 1962, created by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Featuring a heavy Carrara marble base and an elegantly arched stainless-steel stem with a polished aluminum reflector, Arco delivers directional light without ceiling suspension. It remains in continuous production and is featured in notable films and even MoMA’s collection.
  • Living Object (Console / Storage): Nexus (Italy) Living Box – designed by Vincent Van Duysen, this sleek, low-profile cabinet transitions from architectural concept to domestic elegance. Crafted in modular lengths (230–380 cm) and combining contrasting materials on the exterior with selected natural stone or wood tops, it offers both visual interest and functional versatility.

Closing Tip

“Luxury dining is not about opulence alone—it is about creating a rhythm where art, light, and conversation flow effortlessly. Choose pieces that invite emotion as much as they deliver function.” — Lead Designer
