Before and After

In the heart of Los Angeles, a tech entrepreneur and art enthusiast has redefined the idea of dining with a 2,051 SF Zen Natural Luxury Residence. Designed with Cassina’s iconic sculptural tables and Artemide’s poetic lighting, this residence transforms the dining room into a stage for slow, meaningful gatherings.

The space embraces slow living, where sculptural furniture meets natural textures, and intimacy is celebrated through design. With its serene palette, gallery-like details, and refined elegance, this dining room invites moments of connection and timeless artistry.

Design Story

The design narrative is titled “Curated Setting for Slow Gatherings.” Far from being a utilitarian space, the dining room is conceived as a refined stage for intimacy and artful living. A sculptural white table becomes the centerpiece, paired with deep green chairs that anchor the room’s rhythm. The textured circular rug, grounding the ensemble, adds continuity and tactile warmth.

Soft light filters through, amplifying natural views and lending a gallery-like air. Every detail is meticulously crafted to nurture soulful connections, ensuring that dining becomes not just a ritual but a moment of artistic immersion. Rooted in timeless shapes and organic textures, the space embodies the quiet luxury of Zen minimalism.

Homeowner Q&A

Favorite Element

“The way the sculptural Cassina Sengu table anchors the space—it feels less like dining and more like gathering around an art piece.”

Biggest Challenge & Solution

The main challenge was balancing warmth with restraint. To avoid sterility, warm green seating and textured finishes were introduced, creating an inviting yet elevated ambiance.

Budget

The project was executed with a budget of USD 42,000, ensuring high-end artistry without excess.

Lifestyle Impact

This dining room was created for a lifestyle rooted in mindful luxury. It is not merely a space for meals but for meaningful dialogues, artful hosting, and intimate celebrations. With Cassina’s refined furniture and Artemide’s sculptural lighting, the homeowner can host elegant soirées or quiet family dinners, each occasion elevated by design.

The space reflects a slow living ethos, where every object, from the rug’s tactile weave to the sculptural table, reinforces a sense of calm permanence. High-end brands like Cassina, Artemide, and B&B Italia ensure that the dining room doubles as both a living gallery and a sanctuary of refinement.

Best Designers Furnitures Recommendation

  • Dining Table: Cassina Sengu Table – designed by Patricia Urquiola, this sculptural piece draws inspiration from the ritual rebuilding of Japanese shrines. Crafted in solid wood with marble and ceramic options, it celebrates lightness and material dialogue with a poetic architectural gesture.
  • Two‑Seat Setee: Cassina Dudet Sofa – a 1970s‑inspired design featuring a generous seat cushion and two continuous tubular supports that form legs, armrests, and backrest in one flowing line. It’s fully upholstered, recyclable, and designed with disassembly in mind.
  • Armchair / Chaise Lounge: B&B Italia Terminal 1 by Jean‑Marie Massaud – this dual-function piece blends sculptural fluidity with refined contrast. Its glossy form floats atop a matte steel support, seamlessly shifting between armchair and chaise longue with elegant sophistication.
  • Pendant Light (Lighting): HAY Brim Pendant Lamp – designed by Rui Pereira & Ryosuke Fukusada, this ambient light brings vintage charm through a pressed glass shade with fluted detailing. Available in clear, smoked, or green finishes, it conceals its light source within an opal diffuser, creating soft illumination that works equally well solo or in clusters.

Closing Tip

“A dining room should not just feed the body—it should nourish the soul. Invest in timeless pieces, and let light and texture guide your moments.” — Lead Designer
