Discover a 1,770-sq-ft unique luxury home at The Benson in New York. This living room showcases refined design, timeless elegance, and premium comfort.
Step inside the home office–inspired living room of Jonathan Miles, a venture capitalist and art patron who calls The Benson in New York his creative retreat. Spanning 1,770 square feet, this Luxury Residence blends modern interior design with High-End Furniture from Cassina, Herman Miller, and B&B Italia.
This space is not just a living room—it is a stage where work, leisure, and inspiration coexist. Natural light, bold colors, and sculptural design pieces create a refined yet energetic environment, perfectly tailored to an HNW lifestyle rooted in both productivity and cultural sophistication.

The design narrative unfolds with a balance of clarity and vibrancy, where white walls and abundant daylight frame a modern composition. At the center stands a dark wood linear desk—a stabilizing anchor of focus—while a red mesh Herman Miller chair injects a striking creative energy. The yellow patterned rug echoes this vitality, softening the geometry with warmth.

A brick-patterned partition functions as both divider and artwork, reminiscent of Cassina’s Paravent Ambassade du Japon.
Ultimately, this is not a passive space, but a creative habitat—crafted to inspire, focus, and invite.

Favorite Element: “I love how the red mesh chair stands boldly against the calm white backdrop—it’s like sitting in the middle of an art installation while still being comfortable enough to work for hours.”

Biggest Challenge & Solution: The challenge was ensuring the space felt both like a home and an office. The solution came in the form of layered zoning: a brick-patterned partition subtly distinguishes the workspace from the lounge, while lighting choices allow for seamless transitions from productivity to relaxation.

Budget: At USD 43,000, the project strategically allocated resources to invest in High-End Furniture (Cassina, B&B Italia, Herman Miller) and curated art accents, while maintaining an approachable sense of modern luxury.

For HNW homeowners, the living room is often more than a domestic retreat—it is a stage for intellectual life. Here, the homeowner hosts small investor meetings and intimate gatherings with fellow art collectors. The Cassina Ventaglio desk sets a tone of craftsmanship, while Herman Miller’s ergonomically advanced Cosm Chair blends comfort with boldness.
Accents from B&B Italia’s Flair O chair and an Artsy-acquired Themba Sibeko artwork complete the narrative, demonstrating how luxury furniture and contemporary art converge to shape lifestyle and identity. Much like Louis Vuitton or Versace Home pieces, these design icons are not just functional, but expressions of cultural capital.

As Jonathan Miles reflects: “Luxury isn’t about excess—it’s about balance. A room should hold space for both silence and energy, discipline and play. That’s where true creativity begins.”
